Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after lead was stolen from a church roof in Bicester on Sunday, April 22nd.
The alarm in the St Mary’s Church in Bicester Road was activated at 12.10am and 1am. A church warden went to the church but did not notice anything. But the following morning they discovered that 12 pieces of lead had been stolen from the roof.
PC Caroline Brown, from Bicester police station, said: “The stolen lead is Smartwater marked and registered, making it possible to be identified.
“I would like to hear from anyone who noticed any suspicious activity around the church, or any scrap metal merchant who has been offered lead in small or large quantities.”
Anyone with any information about this incident should contact PC Brown via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 101.
