A former police officer from Kent has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with murdering his wife at her high street hair salon. 33-year-old Natalie Esack was found with multiple stab wounds at her business in Ashford on Monday.
Ivan Esack, 38, of Rosewood Avenue, Ashford, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during a first appearance at Canterbury Magistrates' Court. He was charged by Kent Police with murdering Natalie, who was found at her hairdressing business, Esack Hair and Beauty in High Street, Ashford, on Monday morning.
A post-mortem examination found she died from multiple stab wounds.
Unshaven Esack, dressed in a blue jumper, was remanded in custody and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Thursday.
There was no application for bail during the five-minute hearing.
Esack was employed by Kent Police until 2010 but more recently had been working as a football agent, according to his website.
