A four year old from Kent is in a critical condition after falling as she queued for a ride Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey.

Jessica Blake, who lives in Sheerness, reportedly fell 30ft from a bridge on Thursday after plunging through a gap left by a missing plank in a rope-style bridge. She was queuing for the Tomb Blaster ride.

She was rushed to St George's Hospital in London with a fractured skull, fractured ribs and bleeding to the brain, liver and kidneys.

In a statement, the park has said “The circumstances surrounding this sad incident are currently under investigation and therefore it is inappropriate to comment on this further. "We have been in regular contact with the family and our thoughts and best wishes are with them at this time.”

The bridge has now been fixed and the park was closed for the rest of the day.
