More than one thousand new jobs will be created at Gatwick this summer with a big increase in routes flown from the airport.
Today, to mark the start of the summer getaway season, the latest destination was launched to Cancun in Mexico.
New destinations also include Hong Kong, Vancouver, Las Vegas and Cancun, Mexico. Virgin Atlantic is alone creating 500 new jobs.
It follows years of decline for the aviation industry following the September 11th attacks and the recession.
Today a party was help at the airport to mark the new Mexico route.
