Exit for Judo medal hopefuls
Team GB's Ashley McKenzie from Dartford and Kelly Edwards from Gravesend have both been knocked out of the judo competition on the opening day of the Olympics.
McKenzie suffered an early exit from the men's under-60kg extra-lightweight judo competition, beaten by the number two seed, Hiroaki Hiraoka from Japan at the Excel in London.
Kelly Edwards from Gravesend lost to Japan's Tomoko Fukumi in the women's 48kg competition.
The Team GB Olympic Judo squad trains at Gravesend in Kent. The Great Britain team failed to win a medal in either of the past two Games at Athens and Beijing.
Here is our report from early this month on Team GB's Judo squad preparing for the Olympic games.
