The great Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhji was one of three Indian Princes who played cricket for Sussex. He was known to all as Ranji and became the first Indian to play county cricket and represent England.

A Sussex legend, Ranji scored 18,594 runs for the club and invented batting strokes such as the leg glance and the uppercut. In our report, Derek Johnson speaks to Vivek Kaul, a Sussex cricket supporter, Bert Williams from Brighton Black History and Rob Boddie, the club archivist.
