Man charged with Delia's murder

A man has been charged with the murder of an 85-year-old pensioner, found bludgeoned to death in her home.

Jamie Lee Boult, 24, from Chessel Crescent in Southampton, was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Delia Hughes.

Mrs Hughes was found by relatives at her ground-floor flat in Atlantic Close, Ocean Village, Southampton, on August 18.

A post-mortem examination found she died from blunt force injuries.

The latest development came after detectives projected 12-ft high CCTV images of a 'significant witness' they wanted to speak to in connection with the murder on buildings in Southampton over the weekend.

Mrs Hughes was originally from Blackpool in Lancashire but had lived in Southampton for the past 17 years.

Before she retired, she had worked as a supervisor for Littlewoods.
