Three Romanian men who stole jewellery and antiques from homes in Kent have been jailed for 14 years between them. They targeted 40 homes in rural areas around Ashford and Canterbury.
They broke in when the owners were away or in some cases when the elderly homeowners had gone into residential care. Police believe they stole over 45 thousand pounds worth of goods although some victims said they couldn't put a value on the items that were taken.
The men were arrested in February at an address near Ashford and 500 items were recovered. The jewellery and antiques were then identified and returned to their owners.
The men appeared before Canterbury Crown Court where they admitted conspiracy to commit burglary. 32-year-old Petru Lascar was sentenced to 4 years 8 months. 34-year-old Cristian Tataru and Georgei Nicoara who's 37 were each sentenced to 4 years 10 months .
