A Land Rover which was made especially for Sir Winston Churchill to use at his home in Kent has sold at auction - fetching more than double its £60,000 estimate.

It fetched £129, 000 from a private bidder at an auction in Cambridgeshire yesterday.

The vehicle was delivered to Chartwell near Sevenoaks in 1954 as an 80th birthday present for the then Prime Minister, and featured an extra-wide seat to accommodate Churchill's large frame.

The Land Rover, which has 12,932 miles on the clock, was the star of the show at a Cheffins vintage car auction yesterday.
