There was a time when the village or church hall was at the heart of every community - a thriving centre where people met to talk, dance or just have fun. But over the years, such landmarks have been disappearing.
One community in Sussex though, was determined theirs shouldn't close. They've managed to raise a hundred a twenty thousand pounds in just six weeks to help keep it open.
And they are convinced that where they lead, other communities could follow. Andrea Thomas reports on Exeter Street Hall in Brighton.
