Football preview 2013
by Sarah Gomme, Sports Correspondent
Reading begin the new year in the relegation zone despite earning their second Premier League win of the season against West Ham on Saturday. Tomorrow they travel to Tottenham - eager to become the only side since West Brom in 2005 to escape relegation having been bottom on Christmas Day.
Southampton, who sit four points above the Royals, play Arsenal at St Mary's - after a late equaliser robbed them of all three points at Stoke.
In the Championship Brighton boss Gus Poyet hopes to have Will Buckley back for their trip to Ipswich. The midfielder's 80th minute goal denied Ipswich all three points when they played at the Amex earlier in the season.
Eddie Howe's League One Bournemouth can consolidate their place in a play off position with a win at Brentford. And Gillingham could reclaim the League Two top spot with three points at Southend.
