FA Cup hope for Hastings

Hastings United are tonight preparing for the biggest game in the club's history. Having sent Harrogate out of the FA Cup on penalties the Isthmian Premier League side now face Championship Middlesbrough in the Third Round. 131 places separate the two sides in the football pyramid - and Hastings have never reached this stage of the competition. More than one thousand travelling Hastings fans hope the Riverside Stadium is about to witness an epic giantkilling.

Brighton host Newcastle tomorrow in a repeat of last year's fourth round game which the Albion won by a single goal struck by winger Will Buckley. And the 23 year old will be looking for a repeat of that performance after today signing a deal that will keep him at the Amex until 2017.

A sell out crowd is expected at Crawley's Broadfield Stadium for the visit of Reading tomorrow. Crawley have reached the fifth round of the cup in each of the past two seasons - pulling off giankillings on their way. The Royals players though don't want to be another scalp.

Elsewhere in the competition League Two Aldershot host League One highflyers Rotherham. Oxford could pull off a real upset if they can beat Sheffield United. Southampton welcome fellow Premier League side Chelsea to St Mary's. They've met seven times in the cup and Saints have never lost. And Bournemouth's Eddie Howe can continue his undefeated run at Wigan.
