More than 1,000 years ago, fear was spread across England, as an invasion approached that would change our nation forever.
The Vikings came to our shores from Scandinavia in their longboats. Alfred the Great was on the throne in the Kingdom of Wessex, in the medieval capital of Winchester nonetheless.
Now, for the first time in 30 years, the British Museum is putting on an exhibition to reveal the truth about the vikings, and it will be shown in cinemas across our region.
David Wood spoke to Thomas Williams, Curator, Gareth Williams, Vikings Live and Bettany Hughes, a historian.
The Viking film will be shown in cinemas on April 24th from Oxford and Reading to Basingstoke, Bracknell, Poole, Portsmouth, Winchester Southampton and Brighton.
