A widow who returned from her husband's funeral to find she had been burgled, said she has been left completely devastated.

Paula Palmer, of Barnet Road, Brighton, said the thieves ransacked all the rooms taking jewellery, her car and more importantly, a number of sentimental items.

"The devastation and invasion into my life is huge.

"A large amount of jewellery has been taken and with every piece there are sentiments and memories.

"This burglary has drawn out a lot more pain and agony on what was already a very sad day."

Thieves broke into Mrs Palmer's home between 5.30pm and 9.30pm on Friday April 17 while the funeral service and wake were being held.

They found the keys to her grey Kia Ceed car parked at the front of the house and used the vehicle to get away in.

The car, registration BJ09 YBK, together with the thieves are now being sought.
