Fine cooking seals victory for Hove dinner lady in school chef competition

School chef winner Marion Jane Credit: School Chef of the Year 2016

A dinner lady from Hove has been named as the South East School Chef of the Year.

Marion Jane of Goldstone Primary School will now go on to compete against none other regional champions in the national final in March next year.

Melanie Inwood from River Primary School in Dover and Alison Dinning of Ranelagh School in Bracknell were also highly commended for their desserts and main courses respectively.

Marion's two winning dishes were:

Main course Swedish Lemon and Dill Chicken - Stuffed Chicken Breast with Yoghurt, Dill and Lemon, served with a Cheesy Mashed Potato Bake.

Dessert Chocolate and Caramel Dessert with Apple and Pears accompanied by a Vanilla Sauce.
