Two schoolboys have been arrested on suspicion of arson after a blaze tore through the roof of a catholic church in Basingstoke.
More than 30 firefighters rushed to the scene to find billowing smoke pouring from St Joseph's Catholic Church in St Michael's Road.
Investigators believe the blaze started in a nearby garden shed before spreading to the religious building.
Nobody was inside the church at the time and no one was injured.
Two teenage boys, aged 13 and 14 years, were arrested on suspicion of arson and later released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The church remains sealed off while investigators continue to look into the exact cause of the fire.
