Datchet rape update: Man released without charge as police make fresh appeals

Police are renewing their appeals after a teenager was dragged off the street and raped as she left a village railway station in Berkshire.

The 18 year old was attacked on Wednesday night at around 10.20, as she walked along London Road to Montrose Avenue after she had left Datchet railway station.

When she ignored his advances he grabbed her and took her to a wooded area of land at the junction of Majors Farm Road, Ditton Road and London Road, and raped her.

The woman is being supported by specially trained officers.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed that a man from Datchet was arrested on Friday night in connection with the incident but has now been eliminated from the investigation.

“I am renewing our appeal for information after this awful incident during which an 18-year-old woman was raped.

“I would like to thank the community who have already come forward with vital information.

If anyone heard or saw anyone or anything that was unusual or suspicious please contact us. “A man from Datchet was arrested last night in connection with the offence but he has been eliminated from the investigation and has this afternoon been released without charge.”

The attacker is described as:

  • Asian
  • In his mid-thirties to mid-forties
  • Average build
  • Receding black hair which is longer on the top but shaved on the side
  • Has a prominent nose.
  • Wearing a smart jacket or blazer, a dark patterned scarf and blue jeans.
  • Carrying a full size black umbrella with a wooden handle and a small bag with a strap across his shoulder.
