Police scour the south coast after hit and run in Dorset

Police investigating a fail-to-stop collision in which a woman was seriously injured, believe the offending car may have fled across three counties.

At around 10.30pm on Friday 7 July a collision occurred outside Coffee and Dice on Christchurch Road involving a red Nissan X-Trail and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian – a 20-year-old Bournemouth woman – sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police believe the vehicle may have travelled to Sussex.

“A number of enquiries have been carried out so far to try and locate the driver of the Nissan.

“It is believed that following the collision the vehicle has travelled through East Hampshire to the Worthing area of Sussex.

“I am appealing to anyone who knows the current location of the vehicle, or who may have seen it travelling out of the county since the time of the collision to contact Dorset Police.

“I would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw the manner of driving of the Nissan immediately before or after the incident.
