The friends and family of a 20 year-old man who was left with serious injuries in a hit and run have launched a campaign to pay for his facial reconstruction surgery.

It was Steven Wanna's birthday when he was run over on the A4074 at Nuneham Courtenay near Oxford.

Steven suffered serious damage to his face

The driver failed to pull over or call the emergency services after the crash on February 14th. Nobody has been arrested or come forward in connection with the incident.

Steven was in a coma for 3 months and will now need 24-hour care for the rest of his life. He will have to use a wheelchair and suffers from extreme memory loss.

The student also sustained severe injuries to his face, which have left him disfigured.

His mother, Sandy Mar, and friends, Katie Franklin and Amberjade Webber, are raising money for him to have cosmetic surgery, which they say will help Steven look more like he did before and will restore his confidence.

The facial reconstruction procedure will cost £30,000 and any extra money will go towards finding a ground-floor flat, which is fully wheelchair-accessible.
