Three young women's plea to councillors to keep respite centre open

Three young women with Downs Syndrome have made an impassioned appeal to councillors to reverse plans to shut their respite centre in Southampton. The Kentish Road Centre in Shirley has been earmarked for closure - to save around 300 thousand pounds a year. But families who use the centre say they would have no-where else to go. Our reporter - Kerry Swain - has been in today's council meeting.
