Heavy snowfall has left drivers at a standstill in Oxford. Parts of the M40 in Oxfordshire were gridlocked this morning because of wintry conditions.
There is disruption to rail lines with delays on Chiltern, GWR and Cross Country services. Passengers are being urged to check their route before travelling.
In Oxford the Oxford Bus Company has cancelled all services because of dangerous conditions on the roads.
In the south ferry services have been cancelled because of stormy seas and in Sussex there are reports of trees down.
Amber snow warnings are in place between 4am and 6pm for affected areas. And yellow warnings have been issued as heavy rains are predicted to lash much of the south with gusts of up to 70mph.
Between Friday and end of Monday, the RAC is expecting to attend in the region of 33,000 breakdowns in total - that's 4000 more than normal for the second weekend of December.
