Wednesday's lunchtime forecast for east of the region

Scattered blustery showers, easing for a time, though returning overnight.

Today: A cloudy but largely dry start, though blustery showers are expected from mid morning, merging to give longer spells of rain at times. Showers and cloud starting to clear east by the end of the afternoon. Maximum temperature 9 °C.

Tonight: Dry at first, however, before midnight further blustery showers are expected to arrive from the west. Any heavier showers may fall as sleet, mainly over higher ground in the north. Minimum temperature 0 °C.

Thursday: Isolated showers should turn back to rain and largely die away through Thursday morning. A mostly dry end to the day with winds also turning light by dusk. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
