It's official! A date for the royal wedding has been set

The date for the royal wedding has officially been set - Prince Harry will marry Meghan Markle on Saturday 19th May 2018 at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Following the news of the engagement on the 27th November 2017, the world watched and waited for further details to be released.

The Prince and Ms Markle said the ceremony would take place at Windsor Castle in Berkshire in the spring of the following year.

Prince Harry designed the engagement ring for American actress Ms Markle himself using two diamonds from the personal collection of his late mother Princess Diana.

The American actress, who will become a senior HRH on marrying into the royals, also intends to become a British citizen.

St George's Chapel is the same venue where Harry's father, Prince Charles, was blessed in a civil union with Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005 and where Prince Edward wed Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999.
