95 year old spared jail after admitting causing death of man

A 95 year old Berkshire woman has been given a 16 month suspended sentence at Reading Crown Court after admitting death by dangerous driving.

Gertrude Lister, accidentally pressed the accelerator in her automatic car, killing 47 year old cemetery worker Paul Mills, in February last year at Braywick cemetery in Maidenhead.

Paul later died of his injuries at Wexham Park Hospital after the incident.

The judge said that when Ms Lister pleaded guilty on 19th December 2017, that it was a very complex case but there was a 'real risk' she may go to prison.
