Highways England has apologised after it misspelled the name of a town in Oxfordshire on one of its road signs.
Eagle-eyed drivers spotted the error on the A34. The sign said 'Whitney' but should have been Witney.
This is very clearly a mistake, and we have taken down the sign while we organise its correction. We are looking into how the incorrect spelling on the sign escaped our quality control checks. We are grateful to the eagle-eyed drivers on the A34 who pointed this out.
