The first school performance tables to include the results of tougher new GCSEs in English and Maths exams were published today. Schools are now judged on the progress their pupils make - as well as the grades they get. Christine Alsford looks at which are struggling - and which are coming out on top.
There are concerns over grade boundaries and pass marks for the new most difficult maths papers. All three major exam boards required fewer than 20 per cent of the overall marks to gain a Level 4 - a standard pass equivalent to the lower end of the old C grade.
