Saturday's weather for the west of the region

Showers increasingly turning into snow this afternoon across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Dorset, Sussex, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

This Evening and Tonight: Further outbreaks of snow, locally heavy at times, the most persistent and heavy snow likely across the North Downs and Kent downs, along with drifting snow in places. Risk of coastal gales. Minimum temperature -4 °C.

Sunday: Rather cloudy although some limited brightness. The odd light snow shower, but becoming mostly dry. Remaining windy with a significant wind-chill, as temperatures struggle to exceed freezing for many areas. Maximum temperature 2 °C.

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday: Monday and Tuesday, bright, scattered wintry showers. Sharp overnight frost but daytime temperatures slowly recovering, with a daytime thaw. Becoming less windy. Wednesday, mostly dry and bright, but less cold.
