A man who planned to murder his boss after becoming obsessed with her has appeared in court in connection with her death.
Jillian Howell worked with David Browning at the University of Brighton.
Her body was discovered by officers at her home in the city last October.
She was stabbed 15 times in the neck, chest and abdomen.
Hove Crown Court heard how David Browning initially disagreed with her management style, but they became closer when Ms Howell tried to help him deal with the loss of his father.
He denies murder but has admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
The trial continues.
