Hot, sunny and humid in Kent, Sussex and Essex today, with a risk of thundery outbreaks. Kate Haskell has the forecast:

Cloudy start, then sunny spells with the risk of showers.

Today:

Feeling very warm or hot with light winds and developing sunny spells through the day, this heat perhaps enough to trigger isolated thunderstorms later in the afternoon. Maximum temperature 29 °C.

Tonight:

Becoming dry as showers ease for a time overnight. Some patchy mist and fog possible, with showers returning to eastern areas by dawn. Minimum temperature 13 °C.

Tuesday:

Early cloud, must and fog will be slow to clear, with some places remaining cool and cloudy all day. Isolated showers are likely through the day, these perhaps heavy. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Very warm and humid conditions will persist, with a continuing risk of heavy showers and thunderstorms, but also some drier, sunnier periods. Winds should be mainly light. Some coastal mist.
