Students seeking debt-free routes to university degrees

A quarter of a million students will receive their A-level results this week and, for many, a traditional university future awaits - with a three year degree.

But with tuition fees of up to £9,250 a year - and typical student debt in excess of £50,000 on graduation - growing numbers of young people are looking at alternatives.

Christine Alsford reports on some of the ways the next generation are seeking to save money on their education and still come out highly qualified.
