A widower from Dorset is calling for greater awareness after his wife developed sepsis in hospital and died.
Robin Alley's wife Margaret - who was 76 - was recovering from an operation. She developed an infection which wasn't spotted early enough, and her organs failed.
Southampton General Hospital says it has since introduced measures to raise awareness of the condition amongst its staff.
However, cases of deaths from sepsis in hospitals nationwide have risen by more than two thirds within two years. Christine Alsford reports.
