Rowan Williams has been a distinguished Archbishop of Canterbury during a turbulent time. He has a great gift for seeing that the widest context of how God is dealing with the world is the only proper way to approach particular current questions. While I am personally sad about his decision I am delighted that his new post will give him the opportunity for more reflection, writing and teaching, and enable him to continue to contribute to the serious debate on what kind of society we should be and how the Church can best serve the common good.
