A man has died today after collapsing at the finishing line of the Reading Half Marathon.
The unnamed runner, who's in his late 30s, crossed the line at the Madejski Stadium and was immediately taken to hospita but doctors were unable to resuscitate him.
He was pronounced dead this afternoon, organisers of the race said.
A statement they said: "This is deeply upsetting and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this distressing time."
Edwin Kipyego, from Kenya, has won the Mizuno Reading Half Marathon with an unofficial time of 63.08 minutes. Last year he was runner up and delighted with his victory this time. He beat fellow Kenyan Bernard Chemugo with Paul Martelletti, from New Zealand, in third place.
Almost twenty thousand runners have descended on Reading today for the town's half marathon.
