A coroner has recorded a verdict of natural causes at the inquest into the death of a teenager from Hove.
Mia Knight fell unconscious while wading out to an inflatable ride on Carvoeiro beach in the Algarve.
The cause of Mia Knight's death was recorded as 'Sudden Adult Death Syndrome' with episodes of loss of consciousness associated with fitting.
The Coroner Ms Catherine Palmer said she was satisfied that Mia didn't drown despite Portuguese authorities previously recording that as a cause of death.
Lola Robertson remembers her friend:
The inquest into the death of a girl from Hove has begun. Mia Knight died just days after her sixteenth birthday. She collapsed suddenly while on holiday with her family in Portugal in August last year.
