A headteacher has paid tribute to a 15-year-old girl who collapsed and died whilst playing rounders at school yesterday. Nicky Payne was taking part in a PE lesson at Angley School in Cranbrook. Headteacher Debbie Coslett said the following in a statement:
"Everyone at the school is extremely shocked and saddened by the news of Nicky's death. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family and friends at this very difficult time. Nicky played a full life in the part of the school and was the first volunteer for any activity."

Officers from Kent Police were called to Angley School in Cranbrook shortly after 11.30am today, after Nicky collapsed during a game of rounders.
She was taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford, but hospital staff were unable to revive her. Her death is being treated as unexplained, but there are not currently thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
