Britain has entered a double-dip recession and there have been two days of bad news on the jobs front with cuts announced at CSC in Aldershot and British Gas. But today, Southern Electric announced the creation of 200 posts at its customer service centre in Havant.
Nick Harper reports on the job situation in the south and the implications of Southern Electric's announcement. He spoke to Sandy Hopkins from Havant Borough Council, economics lecturer Dermot MaCarthy and Tony Keeling from Southern Electric.
Two hundred jobs are to be created by Southern Electric at its offices in Havant. The annoucement comes after it was revealed yesterday 200 jobs could be lost at an IT firm in Aldershot. And British Gas has also announced more than 500 redundancies.
