Liberal Democrats have chosen Brighton as the destination for their spring conference - two days before their larger autumn session is due to start.
The city's council has just announced the booking between March 8th and 10th for the Brighton Centre, in response to delegates who expressed a preference for the Sussex seaside location.
With protests already planned for this weekend's Lib Dem party conference in Brighton the police, politicians and businesses will all have their work cut out.
Around 8,000 politicians will descend on the south coast for the party's first get together in the city for five years. Andy Dickenson reports.
