Men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Ascot

Detectives are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in Ascot at around 3.20am this morning.

The 24-year-old was hit by a Volkswagen Golf R32, while he was walking close to the Esso Garage in Ascot High Street. He is in a critical condition in hospital.

Four men arrested on suspicion of attempted murder are in police custody. Ascot High Street remains closed while the police carry out their investigation. The road is expected to be shut for several hours. Diversions are in place.

“Although we are in the early stages of the investigation we believe that the injured man was possibly involved in a previous altercation at the Club One pub with a group of other men.

“It is vital that anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the collision or the man in the club prior to this and has information to help us with our investigation, comes forward and speaks to the police.

“I would like to thank the public for their co-operation and assistance so far and urge anyone who has further information that could assist our enquiries to contact police immediately or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
