Region's first snow of winter
It's feeling festive with snow falling - and settling in some places - in Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
The first snow of winter
by Divya KohliThe first snow of winter arrived in our region overnight. Parts of Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey and Sussex woke up to a dusting this morning.
As a result of the snow and freezing conditions there were delays on the roads and disruption on our railways. Divya Kohli was out in the snow earlier today.
Snow already causing rail chaos
South West Trains is advising passengers to travel "only if absolutely necessary" as snow disrupts rail services across the region. Severe ice on the rail tracks has resulted in major delays in and out of London Waterloo.
Other transport operators and airports in the area have also been affected by the weather conditions.
Trains through the Woking area have been delayed by up to two hours, while services between London Waterloo and Reading may be delayed by up to 90 minutes.
Some services may also be cancelled or amended at short notice. South West Trains has apologised to passengers and is advising travel only if absolutely necessary as the disruption is expected to last for most of the day.
– Jake Kelly, Customer Service Director for South West Trains-Network Rail AllianceIn common with other transport operators in the area, we are experiencing severe disruption on our network as a result of freezing weather conditions.
"Icy conditions are making it extremely difficult to operate our services and I am sorry to say that is resulting in lengthy delays for our customers. "We would like to apologise to passengers for the inconvenience this will undoubtedly cause them.
"We have extra staff at our key stations to assist customers and provide information and we are keeping passengers on board our services updated as best we can."
