VIDEO: The Government is to announce tomorrow plans for same sex couples to marry. MPs are to be given a free vote - which means they can decide according to their conscience NOT according to party lines. Fred and Sangeeta introduce the item.
MPs are to vote on whether same sex couples can marry in church in an historic vote in the House of Commons tomorrow. They are to be given a free vote - which means they can decide according to their consciences, NOT according to party lines.
But the vote looks set to cause deep splits in the Conservative Party - not least here in the South East, where some MPs say religious reasons mean they cannot support a decision to change the law - and that civil partnerships serve that purpose well enough.
