The detective leading the investigation into the murder of father-of-two Kevin Lavelle, 29, in Banbury eight years ago is appealing for a man who left a message on his mobile to call back. Detectives are re-appealing for information on the murder at the Cricketer’s pub in Grimsbury in June 2004.

There were people from the Pontypridd area of Wales in the pub at the time and it is believed they may hold crucial information. Following the renewed appeal, Detective Inspector Steve Duffy received a call on his mobile phone. The caller left a brief message but did not provide any contact details.

Det Insp Duffy said: “It has been eight years since Kevin Lavelle was murdered and his family desperately want and deserve justice. They have been through an agonising ordeal and I firmly believe there are people in both South Wales and Banbury who have information which is vital to our inquiry."
