The Bishop of Durham, Justin Welby, was today elected to be the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury. The College of Canons of Canterbury met in a thousand-year-old ceremony for the vote. David Johns reports, speaking to the Very Rev Robert Willis, Dean of Cantebury Cathedral.
Senior clergy and lay people from the Diocese of Canterbury will today begin the formal election of the one hundred and fifth Archbishop.
A ceremony will take place at the Cathedral although, as is tradition, the candidate - the Rt Rev Justin Welby - is not invited.
