A 91-year-old woman, who uses a walking stick, has been robbed as she collected her pension in Portsmouth. She was pushed to the floor where she suffered arm and hand injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatening.

The robber, believed to be a man wearing dark clothing, stole her handbag containing £194 and ran away towards Wimpole Street. Police are treating this robbery as a particularly despicable crime as the elderly victim is likely to have been targeted specifically due to her age.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact CID at Fratton Police Station by phoning 101. Information can be given anonymously by phoning the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
