Clegg told of concerns by MP

Former Romsey MP Sandra Gidley says she told Nick Clegg about allegations surrounding the party's former chief executive Lord Rennard back in 2007. Mr Rennard denies allegations that he behaved improperly towards women in the party.

Lord Rennard concerns 'acted upon'

"Sandra Gidley once raised general concerns with Nick Clegg about Lord Rennard's conduct. She did not know of or raise specific allegations.

"As Nick Clegg has said, he was aware of general concerns which were acted upon by this then chief of staff, Danny Alexander."

Former MP hopes comments will 'jog memory'

Former Romsey MP Sandra Gidley says she raised concerns to Nick Clegg over allegations made against Lord Rennard back in 2007. The former chief executive of the Lib Dems denies allegations that he had behaved improperly towards women in the party on a number of occasions.

Ms Gidley says she hopes her comments will jog the Lib Dem leader's memory of their conversation. The controversy surrounding Lord Rennard and the Liberal Democrat leader's knowledge of allegations has come ahead of a crucial by-election in the Eastleigh constituency tomorrow.
