Fire crews tackle school blaze

More than 35 crew members are fighting a fire a school in Dorset.

Investigations are underway into the cause of a blaze at Buckholme Towers School in Dorset. No one was injured in the blaze, but fire took hold on the first and second floors of the prep school in the early hours of the morning.

Head thanks emergency crews

The head teacher of a school in Dorset has praised the emergency services dealing with a serious fire at the building.

This is a very sad day in the history of Buckholme Towers School, but it is only a building. We must not lose sight of the fact that the children are the heart of the school and the most inportant is that they are safe, we are working to ensure that there is minimal diseruption to their education, I would like to thank the emergency services who have worked so hard."

No one was injured in the blaze. The cause is being investigated.

Fire started in the early hours

Crews were called to a serious fire in Lower Parkstone, Poole just before 3am.

More than 35 firefighters are in attendance at a large blaze at the Buckholme Towers School, which took hold in the 1st and 2nd floors of the prep school.

Police have closed the A35 Commercial Road through the middle of Lower Parkstone while operationsare underway. Fire crews have also requested gritters due to the low teperatures and excess water run-off.
