Drivers are being warned that phase2 of Operation Stack may have to come in because of the snow. Phase2 means traffic's taken off the M20 coastbound at Jn8. Lorries are then put in a queue. Other traffic is diverted along the A20 before rejoining the motorway at Jn9 at Ashford.
Phase2 can hold approximately 3,300 lorries.
Kent Police are still helping drivers stranded in snow and ice.
The M2 is badly hit. The M20 eastbound is blocked after the Channel Tunnel closed overnight and motorists are urged to avoid the area. The A2 is impassable at Barham.
In some areas, drifting snow is reaching 10 feet in height.
There is stationary traffic, with hazardous driving conditions and the road partially blocked due to snow on M20 coastbound between J11 B2068 (Hythe / Westenhanger) and J13 A20 (Folkestone).
A number of lorries are still stranded in the middle of the road but some traffic appears to be getting by using the hard shoulder.
M23 West Sussex hazardous driving conditions due to ice and snow between junction 8 M23 (Gatwick Airport) and junction 11 A23 (Pease Pottage). Snow has settled in places and the motorway is down to one lane.
M20 coastbound blocked due to hazardous driving conditions caused by the snow between junction 11 (Hythe/Westhanger) and junction 13 A20 (Folkestone). Many vehicles have become stuck and the motorway is impassable.
