Discovering after half a century that you have a sister would be a shock to most people.....but imagine finding out that she's also your twin.

That's the amazing story of Jenny Lucas and Helen Edwards. Jenny, from Kent, was given up for adoption at birth but even after tracking down her sibling she first thought they were only half sisters. Iain McBride has their story.

Separated at birth

DNA tests had confirmed they were sisters, but it was only when they delved into medical records, Jenny and Helen found their late mother had given birth to two babies on December 2, 1948: the date of Jenny's birthday.

Surprise twins, reunited after 5 decades

Long-lost sisters, who were reunited after 55 years apart, have discovered that they are in fact twins, separated at birth. Jenny Lucas and Helen Edwards, both 64, had no knowledge of each other after Jenny was given up for adoption until she tracked down her birth mother in 2003.
