A 27-year-old man from Swindon has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The 25-year-old man who was arrested earlier has been bailed pending further enquiries.
The 27-year-old victim remains in a critical condition in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Wiltshire Police still want to hear from any witnesses to this incident which took place early on 1st April 2013 outside The Kings Arms hotel on Wood Street, Old Town, Swindon.
The victim was discovered with serious head injuries lying on the street outside The Kings Arms.
The victim was wearing a cream shirt, dark blue jeans and black leather shoes at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
