Police have released this CCTV photograph of a man they need to identify in connection with the theft of £1,500 of cigarettes.

At about 4.30am Wednesday, May 8, staff at Sainsbury’s in Shirley, Southampton, heard banging from the cigarette kiosk in the closed store.

The suspects had forced open the store’s front doors and the roller shutter door of the kiosk. They filled a green garden waste bag with cigarettes and left through the front door.

Police think three people arrived at the store on motorbikes before leaving towards Victor Street.

Police say they hope the distinctive clothing of one of the people will help identify him. PC Alex Bowman said: “You would notice the yellow and silver design on the back of the man’s helmet, and the design on the Lacoste rucksack is memorable."

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to ring PC Bowman at Shirley on 101 or the anonymous Crimestoppers charity line on 0800 555 111.
