Hospital eye unit praised

A team of hospital eye specialists has been nominated for a national award.

The team’s nomination will now be considered by a judging panel, who will decide on the overall winners.

Awards will be presented at the society’s annual London conference on September 28.

Helen Jackman, Chief Executive of the Macular Society, said: “Staff at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital eye clinic do an incredible job and we are delighted they have been recognised for their excellent work."

Delight at award nomination

Clinical Lead of the RBH Eye Unit, Consultant Mrs Non Matthews, said: “All of the Eye Unit staff are so pleased and proud to receive this nomination.

"We try very hard to deliver a friendly, efficient and caring service, with all members of the team contributing to the patient experience.

"We are delighted that this is being recognised with this nomination to the Macular Society’s Awards for Excellence.”

John Bright, a patient who nominated the team, said: “I cannot praise all of the staff enough. They are courteous, helpful and efficient. In addition the waiting rooms are light, airy and clean."

Hospital eye unit praised

A team of hospital eye specialists has been nominated for a national award.

The Eye Unit at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) is in the running for the ‘Clinical Service of the Year’ award as part of the Macular Society’s Awards for Excellence.

The nomination recognises the department’s exceptionally good practice in the care of people with macular degeneration.
